Therapy Services

“Enter into children's play, and you will find the place where their minds, hearts, and souls meet.” Virginia Axline.

space for children and families

With over 25 years of experience as a licensed educator and therapist, getting to the root of emotions and stressors in children is best done in a language that children understand – play.  My therapy services are a safe space for children and families. All children go through a variety of standardised and non-standardised assessments to form a baseline.

In consultation with parents and carers I use the results to set objectives and goals, which form the plan for which therapy model to use going forward.

Our Services

Play that heals the heart and mind.

Play Therapy

Play therapy is a natural way to help children express themselves. By using techniques that encourage children to be expressive – such as drawing, role play, sand trays, books, and board games – allowing them to work through emotions and internal struggles.

As a licensed therapist, I help facilitate areas and emotions in your child that need support through their creativity and reactions to the play techniques. Together, we form a safe space to work through big emotions to help children grow.

Humanistic Therapy

Humanistic therapy emphasizes the importance of unconditional positive regard. This play therapy means that I offer acceptance, respect, and non-judgmental support to children.

By acknowledging and valuing a child's experiences and feelings without criticism, we create a safe space for authentic self-expression and personal growth. Here, children learn to self-regulate, evaluate and develop positive self worth.

FILIAL Therapy

Filial Therapy is designed to alleviate children's psychosocial problems, enhance parents' child-rearing abilities, and strengthen family relationships.

I work with you and your family in a safe environment to allow expression in a non-judgmental environment. There are up to 5 stages completed within this treatment including the training of structuring, empathetic listening, imaginary play and limit setting with your child.

Learn to Play Therapy

Many children simply don’t know how to play. This therapy helps to spark the spontaneity of pretend play and help children emotionally and mentally grow.

This form of therapy is ideal for children who struggle to play in groups, developmental delay, autism spectrum disorders, down syndrome or neurological conditions. It addresses problem-solving, logical thought sequence and overall emotional well-being.

Pretend play is linked to language, narrative, social skills, self-regulation, creativity and social understanding. As a highly experienced facilitator, my empathetic approach helps children learn to play.

Integrative Therapy

Integrative therapy is combining the different methods together when needed. This can include both directive and non-directive approaches combined into the one session.

Depending on what the client needs and how they are progressing I might introduce an integrative approach to enhance the therapy further.

Children grow and change as they progress through therapy, so it is important that the play I am facilitating matches these changes in order to support the child's needs and growth. Integrative therapy allows me to do this.
